| Scotland Fire Department Awarded 2 AFG Grants |  | | May 10 -- Congressman Joe Courtney visited Scotland to announce that The Scotland Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded 2 grants totaling $312,075 under the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The first grant of $261,250 will be utilized to replace Engine 116 while the second grant of $50,825 will purchase emergency rescue equipment.
During his visit, Congressman Courtney was given a tour of the station and was shown how Scotland volunteers have been able to best utilize tax dollars by purchasing used apparatus and how volunteers saved tens of thousands of dollars in the construction of the current fire station.
